Herts & Beds Constructing Excellence Club offer Work Experience within the Construction Industry in the Summer holidays.
Summer Work Experience Scheme for 16+ Students
If you want to:
• learn more about the construction industry
• be mentored by professionals
• find out about the right career choice for you
then we can offer you work experience for up to two weeks with various construction companies and consultants including visiting site - you may even meet your future employer!
This year's dates are:-
Work Experience 1 Start Date 25/07/11 End Date 05/08/11
Work Experience 2 Start Date 15/08/11 End Date 26/08/11
We would hope that students would be available for two weeks during this period, but they do not need to be consecutive weeks. The hosting companies are within the St. Albans/Hertford areas and students rotate around our member companies during the placement, introducing them to the following areas:-
Architecture & Space Planning
Contract, Budgets & Constraints
Structural & Civil Engineering
Planning, Project and Programme Management
Contracting and Constructing Management
Trade and/or Specialist Activities
Facilities Management
Commissioning, Handover, Snagging and Defects
Students are provided with a mentor for the duration of their work experience and are briefed to design a new home with a budget of £1.5m. Students are also asked to present their work at our AGM and Student Awards on 29th September at approx 4.30 pm.
