3 Research Assistants (Work Experience) required - 3 month engagement, possibly longer.

Background

Three professional acquaintances have co-authored the first draft of a business/self-development book title intended for traditional and ebook publication. It comprises fifteen chapters plus introduction and bibliography (approx 100,000 words), targeted at business advisors, coaches, mentors, therapists and practitioners. The focus is on conscious business awareness, integrating spirituality in the workplace. The authors have substantial business and entrepreneurial backgrounds in consulting, IT, property, training, film production, coaching, networking and business-support ranging from owner-managers to corporate interventions.

A selection of publishers and their submission criteria have been identified, with promotional channels/social media profiles and supporting resources site in early stage development. The first draft is currently being circulated for review among a readership focus group and the authors are awaiting literary critique and feedback on the marketing proposal.

Job Description

Duties to include:

  • Data capture and analysis of business support membership organisations in the UK and USA
  • Preparing manuscript submission re publisher criteria
  • Survey of target audience to identify preferred/optimal channels for reaching/providing ongoing support for the target audience in relation to the book content
  • Data capture and analysis of social enterprise activity in the UK Research into worldwide cloud app platforms for supporting resources/membership portal

Principal areas of project task management:

Literary review/proof-reading

Marketing copywriting

Database entry

Salary

Travel and research disbursement/expenses only.

Person Specification

Ideally we require students with values and beliefs aligned with spiritual awareness, whether via a formal structure (e.g. Buddhism) or informal practice. Due to the requirement for literary review, proofreading /copywriting duties, a high standard of Grammar and written English is a pre-requisite. The person (s) must be able to adhere to timescales and evidence a methodical, diligent and disciplined approach to the project. We are keen to work with students who feel comfortable in debate, be sufficiently creative and use own initiative to obtain required information, can advocate alternative options and have a good sense of humour. Qualifications

No degree necessary but previous/current studies are expected to encompass one or more of the following: Business Administration, Coaching, Humanities, Journalism, Marketing, Media, Philosophy, Publishing or related studies.

Location

Home-based. Occasional local travel to author meetings, no more than two per month, usually held near Stevenage.
