Introduction
Welcome to the 2012 ‘online PEAT 1 fair’ organised by the Law Society of Scotland. This online portal gives you the opportunity to research the various providers offering the Professional Education and Training Stage 1 course, also known as the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. There are now six providers in Scotland who offer PEAT 1 (the University of Stirling will not offer a Diploma for the session 2012/13) . You can find detailed information on six of those providers including a course description, course structure/timetable and contact details by visiting their stands in this Fair from the list below. The content of the course and the options and electives available will vary from provider to provider. Please ensure you have researched all the options available to you.
Prospective applicants should also ensure they have read the Guidance Note for Diploma Applicants (opens in same window) before applying for the Diploma. In particular there have been significant changes to the funding arrangements for session 2012/2013 and it is important you know what the up-to-date position this. Further information can be found in the Guidance Note. Please also note the existence of the Pritchard Educational Trust which was established to assist those who wish to qualify as solicitors but who, through financial constraints, are unable to do so. You can download the application form here (opens in same window).
The Diploma Application Form can be downloaded here (opens in same window). The closing date for applications is 16th April 2012. If you have any question and would like advice in relation to the Diploma please email diploma@lawscot.org.uk
