Introduction
Welcome to the first ever ‘online PEAT 1 fair’ organised by the Law Society of Scotland! This online portal has been developed to give you the opportunity to research the various providers offering the Professional Education and Training Stage 1 course, also known as the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. There are currently seven providers in Scotland who offer PEAT 1. You can find detailed information on each provider including a course description, course structure/timetable and contact details by visiting their stands in this Fair from the list below. The introduction of PEAT 1 means changes to the course content and the options and electives available will vary from provider to provider. Please ensure you have researched all the options available to you.
Prospective applicants should also ensure they have read the Guidance Note for PEAT 1 Applicants (opens in same window) before applying for PEAT 1. Please also note the existence of the Pritchard Educational Trust which was established to assist those who wish to qualify as solicitors but who, through financial constraints, are unable to do so. You can download the application form here (opens in same window).
The PEAT 1 Application Form can be downloaded here (opens in same window). The closing date for applications is 18th April 2011.
Please note all PEAT 1 providers are subject to an ongoing Law Society of Scotland accreditation process. All information in regard to the number of places being offered and the course information is subject to each provider being successfully accredited. If you have any questions in relation to the accreditation process please email diploma@lawscot.org.uk
